Our Exclusive Interview with Miss Rosa-Maria Romero
How did you get started in
the fitness industry?
I started training at my local gym when I was 16.
I was very much into aerobics back in those days. I also worked as Fitness
Instructor and taught aerobics at various health clubs and schools. I have
never stopped training and I look forward to the gym every day. It’s
never been any different! I am now very much addicted to weight training
and always looking forward to my next comp.
What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment so far would have to be
winning the 2005 IFBB Ms Figure Australia Overall Figure Title. I was also
excited to be featured on the front cover of Australian Iron Man December
issue 2005 – five page feature story. Working on television is also
proving to be a lot of fun. I am extremely happy with the opportunities
that have been presented to me so far and I am always up for a new challenge…
Is fitness modeling/ competition your full-time job?
No. I also work part time as a Long Haul Flight Attendant
and Personal Trainer, a TV presenter and mother of two! I love the variety
and keeping myself busy.
What are your long-term goals?
To obtain my Pro Card, compete in the US and hopefully
one day qualify for Olympia.
What supplements do you use?
I use Advanced Sports Nutrition – Whey Protein,
Glutamine, Creatine, Tribestanol, X-Treme Cuts. I also take vitamins such
as Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Multi, Antioxidant.
How do you motivate yourself to stay in shape?
I simply love to train! I think about my next contest
or photo shoot and work hard to be in top shape. My boyfriend (Luke Schembri)
also motivates me to go extra hard. Being a competitor himself he understands
what is involved. I could never thank him enough for all the input he gives
me.
What tips would you give to someone who wanted to
get into the fitness modeling (or fitness competition).
First of all ‘believe in yourself and follow
your dreams’ - that is my motto. It’s the only way you’ll
get anywhere really. Next, train super hard. Push yourself even on the days
you feel tired or unmotivated. Get some advice from someone who is in the
industry and do some research yourself. Set some goals and take one day
at a time. Slow and steady wins the race!
