Our Exclusive Interview with Miss Raquel Huggins
How did you get started in the fitness?
I got started about 5 years ago when a really good friend of mine for
the Calgary Stampeders was going back to training camp. They just looked
at me one day and asked if I ever considered being a “Fitness Girl”.
It did not really take much consideration I love to dance and I has always
worked out .. and the addict was born.
What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment I would have to say is being a role model and
a inspiration to others to get in shape and stay that way. I have men, women
and children of all ages that look up to me and that is the most amazing
feeling in the world.
Is fitness modeling/ competition your
full-time job?
Unfortunately not; I have a fulltime job during the day and the Fitness
is my other full time job at night and on weekends.
What are your long-term goals?
My long term goals are to continue doing what I love to do, train myself
and inspire others. I am working as a consultant and a Personal Trainer
and in the years to come hope to make more of an impact on my community
with my knowledge.
What supplements do you use?
I am a big fan of the Isolate Protein from Precision Iso-Pro Low Carb in
vanilla and chocolate.
How do you motivate yourself to stay
in shape?
This has been a complete lifestyle decision for me, it does get take some
coaxing within myself sometimes but I always tell myself that I have to
practice what I preach to others and on the days that I am tired or feeling
sluggish I have to just put my mind to it and get going.
What tips would you give to someone
who wanted to get into the fitness modeling (or fitness competition)?
It can be a rewarding and very challenging opportunity. Tip one would be
to, be your own biggest fan, this is a subjective sport not everyone will
like you , be dedicated to your achievements and goals, have fun and meet
people, go to as many shows as you can, talk to as many people as you can,
volunteer at a Promo booth, take lots of pictures and get your self out
there. There is a niche in this industry for everyone.
