Our Exclusive Interview with Miss Elaine Seth
How did you get started in the fitness?
My first fitness competition was in 1998. At that
time, I was working 8-10 hours per day on the assembly line at Ford Motor
Co. I worked night shift, so after work, I would go straight to the gym
and do cardio before going home to sleep. I'd wake up, hit the gym and go
back to work again.
When I got to the competition in Florida, I totally lost the "Head
Game". I looked around and was so intimidated by all of the beautiful
girls!
Somehow, I forgot how hard I had trained and began looking for my weaknesses
as compared to the other competitors. Needless to say, it was not a good
showing for me. It took me 2 years to re-structure my thinking in regard
to competition.
That is when I realized that you can never compare yourself to others....
regardless of what stage you are on or who is standing next to you... it
is truly you against yourself!
My first tradeshow was with Stairmaster in 2000 at IHRSA. From there the
opportunities began presenting themselves to me and I am
fortunate to have had so many wonderful opportunities to work with various
companies.
What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment?
Creating the life I love. I took a big gamble moving
to Florida, quitting a secure job in Ohio to pursue a job that sounded amazing
as well as a relationship. I did not know anyone in South Florida.
Within one year, the relationship had ended and my job was gone... I did not
know which end was up! Rather than running back home to Ohio, I chose to create
something out of nothing.
Many years later I am now so grateful for the life I now call my own. I have
been presented with wonderful opportunities that I never would have imagined.
Sometimes it takes a push in the wrong direction to remind you of where you
really intended to go!
Is fitness modeling/ competition your
full-time job?
No, But I am a Certified Personal Trainer as well.
What are your long-term goals?
Long-term, I hope to leave a lasting impression on the
fitness industry. I want to be remembered as someone who encouraged as many
people as possible along the way, regardless of what my scorecard says.
If I could plant a seed to help someone either by instruction or action and
they are able to dial in, at the moment or later down the road to benefit
from it, I will be pleased.
Whether I walk away with the top prize or nothing at all, I wnat people to
recognize that I put my heart into it and carried myself as a lady.
What supplements do you use?
Elite-K by EDT
AdvantEdge Carb Control by EAS
How do you motivate yourself to stay
in shape?
Knowing that I am not my personal best and that there
is always room for improvement. Also knowing that people turn to me for guidance
and motivation.
What tips would you give to someone
who wanted to get into the fitness modeling (or fitness competition)?
The first thing I always say is to be sure your heart
is in it for the right reasons.... Although there are prizes along the way,
this is a sport that you must truly love and not look to soley for monetary
gain. You basicaly live the life.
Although the stage is the highlight of your training, the most important part
of competition is the time where no one is looking... keeping to your diet,
training on point....
Also, I advise people to do their homework.... go to shows, read the magazines,
ask as many questions as possible so that you are prepared for what you are
getting yourself into!
Most of all, love the moment and keep a positive attitude!
